Heavy Rain Challenge? How Security Robots Handle Harsh Weather

As the field of smart security continues to evolve, security robots are increasingly being deployed in various environments. However, in extreme weather conditions, particularly heavy rain, customers often raise concerns about the performance and reliability of the equipment. For security robots with an IP55 protection rating, heavy rain indeed presents some challenges. However, as a security robot manufacturer, we are not only actively addressing these challenges but also offering solutions to ensure stable operation even in adverse weather conditions.

IP55 Protection Rating: Performance and Limitations
All of our products adhere to strict protection standards. The IP55 rating means that our robots are protected against limited dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from all directions. This level of protection is sufficient for most outdoor environments in day-to-day use. However, under prolonged heavy rain, the IP55 rating has certain limitations, as long-term exposure to intense rain could lead to moisture entering the internal electronic components of the robot.

We understand that customers expect the robots to operate around the clock, regardless of the weather. Therefore, for IP55-rated security robots, we recommend taking necessary protective measures during heavy rainfall, such as reducing operational time, using rain covers, or providing temporary shelters.

Proactively Addressing Technical Challenges

  1. Exterior Protection Design:
While our current security robots are rated IP55, we are continuously improving the waterproof design of our products. The robots’ casings are made from waterproof materials and feature sealed construction, ensuring that they can resist light rain and water splashes, maintaining normal operation in moderately harsh conditions. Additionally, we are in the process of developing models with higher protection ratings, aiming to launch robots with IP67 or even IP68 ratings to handle more extreme weather conditions.

  2. Path and Patrol Optimization:
Heavy rain can lead to puddles or slippery surfaces. Our security robots are equipped with intelligent obstacle-avoidance systems that can detect and navigate around areas with accumulated water. With real-time sensor feedback, the robots can automatically adjust their patrol paths, minimizing exposure to flooded zones and ensuring continuous patrol tasks.

  3. Remote Management and Monitoring:
Our robots are connected to the client’s backend through cloud platforms and remote control systems. Especially in extreme weather conditions, customers can monitor the robot’s status in real-time and adjust tasks or activate safety protocols remotely. This ensures that the robots are monitored and managed effectively, no matter the weather.

Customized Solutions for Customers
As a security robot manufacturer, we fully understand the different needs of customers regarding equipment performance in adverse weather. For environments prone to heavy rain, we have provided many customers with customized solutions. For example, in areas frequently impacted by rain, clients can opt for additional protective accessories, such as waterproof covers, or adjust the patrol schedules. For applications that require a higher level of protection, we can design specific models tailored to meet the customer’s needs.

Moreover, our R&D team is exploring ways to further enhance the adaptability of the robots in extreme weather, focusing on improving waterproofing capabilities, more durable tires and sensors, and ensuring more reliable patrol and monitoring functions under various weather conditions.
